With all that is going on in our world today the one thing that we need most is a hope for humanity. If you follow social media or the news it seems that our world is on the brink of destruction. While many fair-minded people hope in changes that will impact our world I do believe that there is only one hope for humanity and that is found in God through Christ alone.
The Heavens were created with an ordained purpose
Psalm 8 is a testimony that Almighty God who create all things cares for his most precious creation–People. I can imagine all the days and nights that King David witnessed the beauty of the heavens as he tended the sheep in his care. When you consider the beauty of the heavens in the night sky it is no wonder that David started this Psalm with – “O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!”
The fact that there is so much beauty in the heavens declares the glory of God.
Another writer wrote – “Imagine the scene. Here is young David out under the stars at night watching his sheep. The stars were brilliant, and the moon, in its full phase, was crossing the heavens. He felt, as we have all felt as we have stood under the stars at night, something of mingled mystery and awe as he looked up into the star-spangled heavens.
He considered the beauty of nature and its silent witness to the wisdom of God. He sees the ordered procession of the stars and watching them through the night sees how they wheel in silent courses through the heavens. He notices the varying brightness of different stars, and the evident vast distances that are visible in the heavens. All the breath-taking beauty of this scene breaks upon his eyes as the sun sets. He is astonished at the greatness of a God who could create such things.”
The heavens witness the Glory of the creator.
God Created Humanity with an Ordained Purpose.
Psalm 8:2 – “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.”
He saw how God created humanity so that children who have no knowledge in the beginning have within them the ability to develop and grow strong in understanding. Little Children have a special way of showing great admiration to the wonder of creation around them! They see the beauty and instinctively know that there is a Creator behind all creation.
Children see hope in every person they meet – They instinctively love each other! David had plenty of time to witness the beauty of Creation and then wonder at how God created humanity for greater things.
DAVID REALIZED THAT HUMANITY WAS GODS SPECIAL CREATION –
Psalm 8:3-7 – “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, All sheep and oxen—Even the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas.”
God made humanity to have dominion over all his creation.
We are created to take care of all of this earthly realm. It is the greatest honor and favor that mankind is charged with the responsibility for all of God’s creation.
There is great hope for humanity when we seek to live as God designed us as caretakers of his creation.
With all the blessings that God has bestowed upon humanity David could not help but praise God for who He is! – 9 O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!
There is no limit to humanity except the limits we place on ourselves!
What then is the Problem with Humanity?
What stops us from finding hope for humanity?
FIRST – The Reality is that while humanity was created with a special purpose in life, the fall of Adam and Eve and the sin that came into the world marred our image!
Mankind has been so twisted and perverted by the Fall that instead of running the creation he is ruining it. – He is polluting the air and consuming natural resources at an astronomical rate. He is befouling the waters and the soil and making it almost impossible for human life to continue.
Without God humanity is lost and instead of caring for creation we are destroying it.
When we look at the vast creation, we might wonder how God could be concerned for people who constantly disappoint him!
The next time you question your worth as a person remember that God considers you highly valuable. We have great worth because we bear the stamp of the creator.
Because God has already declared how valuable we are to him, we can be set free from feelings of worthlessness.
Second – With all that is going on around us, with the troubles we face in life with our health or family matters we can sometimes get distracted, moody, and discouraged. I believe that we get this way when we take our eyes off of God and instead see all the problems in life.
Can Humanity be Restored Bringing Hope into Our World?
With all the unrest that is going on as well as the fear that is being spread our hope can be found in living to find our purpose in Almighty God. We were created to be the caretakers of the earth – How can we recover our created intent?
WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
We see God’s love for humanity in his actions when Jesus came to die for our sins so that in the end we can be restored to our created intent—
John 3:16-17 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through him.”
The hope for humanity is found in Jesus Christ alone!
All the actions of well-intentioned do-gooders are like trying to cure cancer with a band-aid.
All the hope of humanity is found in restored humanity and only Jesus can restore humanity.
God is fulfilling his original intention for man right now. He is beginning a new humanity right now, and he is teaching us lessons we could never learn in any other way, through the struggles and difficulties of life. He does this in order to fit us for the day when he will pull aside the curtain and the whole world will suddenly see what he has been working on all the time — a new humanity.
Paul says in Chapter 8 of Romans that the whole creation is eagerly looking forward to the day of the manifestation of the sons of God. You can be a part of restoring humanity by submitting to God – Read his word – Do his will – Seek his path for your life today.
The key challenge we all face in learning to submit to God allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us into a new creation.
Conclusion
The hope for humanity is found in the work of Christ in his believers.
He wants to change your life for the better – He wants to remove all that is evil in your heart and mind and replace it with all that is good.
Won’t you submit to him today and be a part of the restoration of humanity and all creation?
